The Daily Star - Moussawi: Targeting Syria over refugees is dangerous - June 13, 2011

BEIRUT: A Hezbollah MP warned against using the presence of Syrian refugees in Lebanon to turn the country into a base for targeting Syria.
“Taking advantage of the refugee matter to turn Lebanon into a base for targeting national unity and security in Syria is a dangerous game,” Moussawi said during a ceremony in the southern village of Aita al-Shaab Saturday.
The Tyre MP praised the position of caretaker Minister of Social Affairs Salim Sayegh “when he rejected the dictates of the U.S. Embassy [which called for politicizing the matter].” Moussawi said that Lebanon, which is currently a non-permanent member of the U.N. Security Council, should reject any resolutions against Syria.
Speaking to The Daily Star Sunday, Moussawi dismissed claims made “by some Future Movement officials” that Hezbollah was against Lebanon hosting the refugees. “We are only calling for restricting the matter to its humanitarian aspect.”
