The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization in Beirut that was established by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily) in 2006. SOLIDA has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human violations.

Iloubnan - “Sharing Nature & Knowledge” Festival in Aarsal in collaboration with AUB - September 20, 2010

BEIRUT - The municipality of Aarsal (Bekaa) is organizing a festival “Sharing Nature & Knowledge” in collaboration with Ibsar (Nature Conservation Center for Sustainable Futures, the Civil Engineering Society (CES) and the Center for Civic Engagement and Community Service (CCECS) at AUB between September 15 and 23, 2010.

During these seven days, residents, AUB faculty, students, and staff will work together to:

1) hold a computer literacy workshop at the Centre for Technical Practice (16, 17, 18, 20, 21, 22 September) – over 10 computers will be donated to the municipality;

2) to establish a public garden overlooking the village (16, 17, 18, 20, 21, 22 September);

3) to set up a native tree village nursery which will enable the municipality to actively support tree planting activities in the area (20, 21, 22 September);

4) to hold photography workshops for the youth at the municipality (16, 17, 18 September) and an exhibition of their work on September 21,2010.

The participants will organize a farewell evening on September 21, 2010 at 5.00 pm at Al Chafaq School.
