The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization in Beirut that was established by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily) in 2006. SOLIDA has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human violations.

Now Lebanon - Al-Qobbeh prison riot hostages freed - September 20, 2010

Seven hostages held by rioting inmates at al-Qobbeh prison in Tripoli have been released and vehicles have entered the prison grounds to transport some inmates to Roumieh prison, the National News Agency (NNA) reported on Monday.

Inmates rioted earlier on Monday to demand better conditions and reduced sentences, a security official told AFP.

Five of the hostages were Internal Security Forces (ISF) members, another was a computer technician, and the seventh was a janitor, the NNA added.
