The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization in Beirut that was established by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily) in 2006. SOLIDA has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human violations.

April 14, 2010 - Now Lebanon - Sakr ashamed of Roumieh prison’s condition

Following a tour of Roumieh prison on Wednesday, Lebanon First bloc MP Okab Sakr—who is also member of the Parliamentary Human Rights Commission—told New TV that the living conditions of the prisoners are shameful.

“I am ashamed to be member of this commission after seeing the conditions in the prison,” he added.

According to New TV, Sakr also visited parents of prisoners and listened to their complaints.
