April 26, 2010 - Naharnet - Suleiman: Tribunal Continues Investigation Without Political Interference
President Michel Suleiman said from Brazil on Monday that the Special Tribunal for Lebanon is continuing its probe into ex-Premier Rafik Hariri's murder without any political meddling.During a gathering held by the Lebanese Consul at the Monte Libano Club in Sao Paulo and attended by Lebanese community members, Suleiman also said: "We won't allow anyone to shatter Lebanon's security."He said that while Israel continues to transform Muslim and Christian religious sites into Jewish and Zionist heritage areas, Lebanon has declared March 25 a national holiday to celebrate the Annunciation of Virgin Mary, a day that concerns both Muslims and Christians. The president was referring to Israel's plan to include the biblical Tomb of the Patriarchs in the West Bank in a project for rehabilitating Jewish heritage sites.Palestinians are calling the move an attempt to seize land and holy sites on Israeli-occupied land where they hope to build a future state. In his speech, Suleiman also lauded Lebanese expatriates in Brazil and urged them to make more investments in Lebanon
