Daily Star - Ywca Us Embassy Launch Women In Politics Project

BEIRUT: The Young Women’s Catholic Association (YWCA) and the US Embassy have launched a nationwide media campaign to encourage women to run for political offices. The campaign is a part of the YWCA’s Women and Municipalities program, which is sponsored by the US Embassy through the Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI). On behalf of US Ambassador Michele Sison, MEPI Coordinator Amanda Cranmer congratulated the 21 women who took part in the program’s training course. Women who plan on running for elections to local municipal councils learned: how municipal bodies function, how to run a municipal campaign, how to deal with the media and how to research the needs of their respective villages. – The Daily Star
