July 20, 2010 - Now Lebanon - Succariyeh: Nasrallah’s speech responded to Ashkenazi

Loyalty to the Resistance bloc MP Walid Succariyeh told As-Sharq al-Awsat newspaper in an interview published on Tuesday that Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah’s Friday speech responded to Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi.

The Israeli official had said that the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL)’s upcoming indictment could destabilize Lebanon should Hezbollah prove to be involved in the 2005 assassination of former Prime Minister Saad Hariri.

“Who said that the Israeli intelligence was not behind Hariri’s murder? And what does Ashkenazi have to do with the tribunal?” asked Succariyeh.

He added that the STL has lost all credibility, however, he said that Hezbollah wants to cooperate with the court as long as its work is transparent.
