As-Sharq al-Awsat newspaper quoted on Thursday an unnamed French source as saying that Paris is holding a series of talks in order to prevent the deterioration of the situation in Lebanon.
Political tension in Lebanon has increased after Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah on Friday called the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) an Israeli project aiming to incite sectarian strife. The speech sparked a war of words between March 14 and March 8 alliance figures.
According to the source, France is worried that current political arguments and indirect threats between several Lebanese parties are almost out of control.
