July 22, 2010 - Now Lebanon - Nadim Gemayel: Aoun is Syria, Hezbollah’s informer

Following his Thursday meeting with Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea, Kataeb bloc MP Nadim Gemayel said that Change and Reform bloc leader MP Michel Aoun is an informer for Syria and Hezbollah, according to a statement issued by the LF.

This comes after As-Safir reported last week that Aoun told Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah that there are military groups, especially among the Christians—a possible reference to the Kataeb Party and LF—that want to change the status quo in Christian areas.

Gemayel voiced his fears that current political arguments are a plan to destroy the Lebanese government, adding that the Kataeb will face this plan and abort it in order to maintain all governmental institutions.

This comes after Nasrallah called the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) an Israeli project and linked the tribunal’s pending indictment with the recent arrest of Alfa telecom employees for allegedly collaborating with Israel. A war of words between the March 14 and 8 alliance figures ensued.

Media outlets have reported that the tribunal might indict Hezbollah members for the 2005 assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.
