July 23, 2010 - Now Lebanon - Soueid: Syrian-Lebanese relations upset Hezbollah

March 14 General Secretariat Coordinator Fares Soueid told the Voice of Lebanon (VOL) radio station on Friday that Hezbollah seems upset over the improved Lebanese-Syrian relations.

Prime Minister Saad Hariri met with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in Damascus over the weekend during which they took several steps to enhance bilateral relations.

Soueid also rejected Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah’s Thursday speech, saying it was inaccurate after Nasrallah called on the March 14 leadership to seriously review its positions.

“Nasrallah is asking us to give up [our positions], and not to review [them],” Soueid added.

He also stated that Hezbollah should adhere to the STL’s verdict, the Taif Accord and international resolutions. “Hezbollah must redeem the country by returning to the fold of the Lebanese state,” he said.
