Development and Liberation bloc MP Hani Qobeissy told the Voice of Lebanon (VOL) radio station on Tuesday that based on the information revealed by Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah on Monday, Israel may be responsible for the assassinations that happened in Lebanon.
Qobeissy’s comment comes as a reference to the series of assassinations that struck Lebanon after Rafik Hariri’s murder, many of them targeting March 14 alliance figures.
Nasrallah presented on Monday alleged evidence—including footage he said came from Israeli Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) monitoring former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri and a confession from a suspected Israeli spy—in an aim to implicate Tel Aviv in the Hariri assassination.
“Nasrallah’s information must be taken into consideration in order to investigate whether Israel was involved in these [subsequent] assassinations,” Qobeissy said.
Lebanon should avoid the Israeli plan to cause sedition in Lebanon, he added.
