Kataeb Party bloc MP Sami Gemayel told Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Anbaa in an interview published on Tuesday that Hezbollah’s fear of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon’s (STL) pending indictment which might accuse its members of the 2005 murder of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, shows an increased implication of the party in the matter.
Following Hezbollah General Secretary Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah’s statement that the STL was an Israeli project aimed at causing internal strife and weakening the Resistance, Gemayel said that the Kataeb Party would not comment on the tribunal’s pending indictment until the verdict is issued.
The MP added that the government had already decided to collaborate with the STL, and it was crucial for everyone to respect the Lebanese constitution.
Gemayel also expressed his faith in the tribunal’s credibility and work.
He said that the alleged Israeli spies could not alter the information in the telecommunications network, in reference to Nasrallah’s accusations of the STL basing its data on the Alfa telecommunications network.
