Now Lebanon - Lebanese public figure reportedly arrested on suspicion of collaborating with Israel

Syrian newspaper Al-Watan reported on Monday that an unnamed Lebanese figure, who had previously run for parliamentary elections but withdrew his candidacy, was arrested on suspicion of collaborating with Israel.

The man withdrew his candidacy from the 2009 parliamentary elections and was preparing to run for the 2013 parliamentary elections, the daily said.

The daily added that the arrested individual was allegedly collaborating with the Israeli Mossad intelligence.

The report, however, did not elaborate further on the man’s identity.

Former Brigadier General Fayez Karam, who was a Free Patriotic Movement official, was the last man to be arrested in August on suspicion of working with Israel.
