Now Lebanon - Amal did not sign March 8 request to abolish STL - September 6

The Amal Movement did not sign the memorandum submitted by March 8 parties to the UN, China and Russia over the weekend requesting the abolition of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL), Al-Hayat newspaper quoted an anonymous source as saying in its Monday edition.

The memorandum calls for the UN to replace the STL with a joint Arab-Lebanese commission to investigate the 2005 assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.

The newspaper’s source said that Amal’s non-participation is in harmony with Amal Movement leader Nabih Berri’s call to distinguish between the STL and its indictment.
