Now Lebanon - Najjar: There have been more than 20 arrests in case of Beirut clashes, September 6, 2010

Fifty-two people were investigated for involvement in the August 24 Bourj Abi Haidar clashes and 22 of them have been arrested, Justice Minister Ibrahim Najjar said in a statement issued Monday.

Three people died in the fighting in the Bourj Abi Haidar area of Beirut between supporters of Hezbollah and those of the Sunni group Al-Ahbash.

The accused have been referred to the military court for crimes of murder, attempted murder, inciting sectarian division, setting fire to property and storage of weapons and explosives, the statement added.

This marks the conclusion of the investigation’s first stage, the statement also said.
