Now Lebanon - State budget’s STL clause will go to parliament’s general session, Houri says, September 16, 2010

“Matters do not technically end in the commission. [They] will go to parliament’s general session and we will see what the majority decides in parliament,” Lebanon First bloc MP Ammar Houri told Future News on Thursday after the Parliamentary Finance and Budget Commission did not approve the 2010 state budget’s clause regarding Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) funding.

On Thursday, Al-Manar television quoted commission head MP Ibrahim Kanaan as saying that the commission had not approved the clause.

March 14 MPs walked out of the commission’s Thursday evening session after March 8 MPs – holding the majority in attendance due to the absence of three March 14 MPs – insisted that those present vote on the clause.

Loyalty to the Resistance bloc MP Hassan Fadlallah said during the session that parliament should abolish the STL before the end of September, otherwise “the matter [will be] very dangerous,” MTV reported.
