The family members of Roumieh Prison inmates clashed on Tuesday with the security forces surrounding the compound, as violence inside the prison continued.
Future News reported that the family members threw stones at the security forces deployed outside of the Roumieh Prison.
Security forces arrested some of the assailants and are working to open the road that was previously blocked by the families who are protesting outside the compound, the report added.
Protests in Roumieh’s Prison broke out yesterday for the second time in 48 hours. Inmates at Roumieh– which is one of the biggest prisons in the Middle East and holds 4,500 inmates despite being built to hold only 1,500 – had been demanding an amnesty and better conditions.
