The Daily Star - Arrest warrants issued over Tripoli clashes - June 22, 2011

BEIRUT: Military Prosecutor Judge Saqr Saqr issued arrest warrants against seven people Tuesday over their involvement in last week’s violent clashes in Tripoli, which left seven people dead and 59 wounded, as a preliminary investigation continued.
Fighting broke out Friday night between members of Tripoli’s longtime rival communities, from the mainly Sunni Bab al-Tabbaneh district and the predominantly Alawite Jabal Mohsen neighborhood as several dozen anti-Syrian government protesters who gathered in the city’s Nour Square in support of the popular uprising in Syria clashed with Syrian government supporters.
Interior Minister Marwan Charbel stressed that the military had boosted its presence in the north Lebanon coastal city to prevent further clashes and will remain in the city for the next six months.
