Estonia's Foreign Minister Urmas Paet discussed the abduction of seven Estonians with Interior Minister Marwan Charbel on Tuesday, the National News Agency reported.
Paet said that cooperation between Lebanese and Estonian authorities is going well, and voiced hope that the seven Estonians return home.
He also voiced hope that there is cooperation with Syrian authorities to resolve the issue of the kidnapping.
The FM later met with his Lebanese counterpart, Adnan Mansour, who said that the Lebanese authorities are working to find them. “Unfortunately we could not [yet] locate where they are,” added the Lebanese FM.
“We requested France’s help to assist us resolve the issue. France has played a big role and it continues to cooperate,” Paet said, adding that other regional and European countries like Turkey and Germany are also helping.
Seven Estonian cyclists, all in their 30s, were kidnapped on March 23 after entering Lebanon on a bicycle tour from neighboring Syria.
