Now Lebanon - Rifi responds to calls for his trial - June 04, 2011

Internal Security Forces (ISF) Director General Achraf Rifi rejected in an interview published on Saturday the calls made by a media outlet to take him to trial – in a reference to Al-Akhbar newspaper.
“I didn’t and will not respond to this [media] outlet because this matter is left to the public opinion [to judge],” he told Ad-Diyar newspaper.
The ISF commander refused to comment on President Michel Sleiman and Interior Minister Ziad Baroud.
“The status of the [ISF] and its dignity comes from [Sleiman and Baroud],” he added.
Last week, Telecommunications Minister Charbel Nahhas said in a press conference that ISF personnel had illegally occupied a building owned by his ministry in Adliyeh.
Baroud afterwards asked the ISF members to withdraw from the building, however his request remained unfulfilled until Friday when the building was handed to the Lebanese army.
