The Daily Star - PLO voices approval for Cabinet statement - July 07, 2011

BEIRUT: The Palestinian Liberation Organization praised the policy statement of Prime Minister Najib Mikati’s Cabinet Wednesday, following a meeting to discuss the situation of Palestinian refugees in the country.
“The leadership of the PLO welcomes the statement of Lebanon’s new Cabinet, which called for implementing international resolutions that provide the Palestinian people the right to self-determination, return to their homeland and establish the Palestinian state with its capital Jerusalem,” said the statement released by the PLO.
In a press conference last week on the policy statement, Mikati’s government emphasized the Palestinians’ right of return and their social rights.
“The government affirms the right of return and fully rejects the permanent settlement of Palestinians,” said the policy statement.
According to the PLO, the new Cabinet’s policy statement constitutes a foundation for establishing a Palestinian-Lebanese relationship based on mutual respect for rights and obligations in accordance with Lebanon’s sovereignty.
Last week, the Palestinian faction Islamic Jihad slammed Mikati’s Cabinet for not guaranteeing that it would work toward fulfilling the Palestinian people’s right of return.
