The Daily Star - Union of Driving Schools opposes draft traffic law, December 29th 2011

BEIRUT: The Union of Driving Schools voiced its opposition Wednesday to the draft traffic law currently being discussed by parliamentary committees at a news conference at UNESCO Palace.
The head of the union, Hussein Ghandour, said the union found serious gaps in the draft law and proposed several solutions.
Ghandour called for organizing, numbering and naming roads, as well as improving their conditions as poor road conditions are the main reason for road accidents.
He also asked that driving schools work to improve their operations in coordination with the union and the Interior Ministry and asked that roadworthiness tests (mecanique) be provided by the public sector instead of private companies.
