The Directorate of the
General Security issued a statement on Saturday saying it had arrested Lebanese
citizen Shadi al-Mawlawi earlier in the day on charges of “contacting a
terrorist organization.”
According to the statement
Mawlawi was arrested while he was leaving a social services center that belongs
to Finance Minister Mohammad Safadi and is located in North Lebanon’s Tripoli.
Safadi rejected Mawlawi’s arrest and called for his release.
