The Daily Star - Protest in support of Palestinian, Arab prisoners, May 17 2012

BEIRUT: Several people gathered Thursday in front of the National Museum in Beirut in solidarity with Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails and Arab prisoners in their countries.
Protesters held signs demanding "freedom for prisoners" and condemned the "prevailing repressive practices by Arab regimes."
“For 64 years, Palestine has been teaching us how to persevere and how to make resistance our daily bread. It taught us not to trust our rulers and that freedom can only be attained by the people,” said Mohammad Safa, head of the Khiam Rehabilitation Center for Victims of Torture, reading a statement on behalf of the protesters.
"When the Arab people began saying [The people want], we knew that the freedom of Palestine is the freedom of Arab people. We knew then that our battle against occupation and imperialism is a battle against our own regimes, against misery and defeatism,” he added.
