AKKAR,
Lebanon: The Coalition of Charity organizations distributed aid Saturday to 500
Syrian refugee families in the Akkar town of Halba. The coalition of Islamic
charities handed to each family two food packages and some household
detergents. The aim of the campaign is to distribute 3,000 aid packages, and
the coalition is carrying out its goal in installments.
The head of the coalition,
Sheikh Zeid Zacharia, attended the distribution and called on refugees to have
patience until they are able to return home. Zacharia added that “until then
their Lebanese brothers will make every effort to care for them.” The head of
the coalition also called on the Lebanese government and on Arab and Islamic
governments and societies to lend a hand and help the coalition in “bearing
this great burden, especially after the number of refugees in Lebanon is now close
to 50,000.”
