Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblt received on
Thursday a cable from French President Francois Hollande, who voiced his
country’s keenness on Lebanon’s stability and security.
He said in a cable to the Druze leader: “We have long defended
Lebanon’s independence and sovereignty and we will continue on defending the
Special Tribunal for Lebanon.”
“I am especially committed to the need to end impunity in
Lebanon,” he stressed.
France is committed to maintaining the “deep ties of friendship”
with Lebanon and its people, continued the French president.
“Given the regional changes, we will continue to defend the joint
values and develop our cooperation in the service of the Lebanese state and
institutions,” he declared.
Earlier this week, Hollande had also sent a cable to Speaker Nabih
Berri, expressing to him his country’s commitment to Lebanon’s democracy and
stability.
