TRIPOLI: The Marine Environment Island opened Friday in Mina and will be open to visitors every day except Sunday from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Mina Mayor Mohammad Issa sponsored the event, which was attended by political figures and environmental activists. “[The island] will be a haven for Mina’s residents and all environment lovers,” he said. “We hope visitors to this important tourist site will preserve it and keep it clean.” Previously known as Palm Island and Abdul-Wahab Island, the island is connected to Mina’s shore by a bridge.
