Now Lebanon - New TV Syrian authorities release 14 Syrian deportees, August 6 2012

New TV reported on Saturday evening that the 14 Syrians who were deported by Lebanon on Wednesday were freed by the Syrian authorities.
The report added that Tarek al-Hamawi, one of the deported Syrians, returned to Lebanon.
New TV’s report, however, did not elaborate any further.
Earlier this week, Lebanon deported 14 Syrians despite the raging violence over the border, drawing criticism from human rights activists.

The Lebanese authorities said the reasons behind the expulsions were not political, but a Human Rights Watch representative in Beirut said some of the deportees had expressed fears of persecution upon their return.
