The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization in Beirut that was established by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily) in 2006. SOLIDA has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human violations.

Now Lebanon - Priest abducted in Baalbek, May 7 2012


A priest identified as Walid Gharios was abducted on Monday in Baalbek after he had baptized a Muslim, the National News Agency reported.
“Unidentified assailants in two cars intercepted Gharios in his car in Baalbek and kidnapped him,” the report said.
The report also said that tpreliminary information revealed that the abductors kidnapped the priest because he had “baptized a Muslim girl after she left her parents’ house.”
The NNA added that security forces were working to track down the priest and his kidnappers.
