July 12, 2010 - Now Lebanon - Judge will not rule on Sayyed case Tuesday, says MTV

On Monday evening, MTV reported that Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) pre-trial Judge Daniel Fransen will not rule on former General Security chief Brigadier General Jamil as-Sayyed’s case Tuesday as rumored, but may need at least two more weeks to reach a verdict.

Sayyed filed a request in March for access to court investigation files in order to prove that he was the victim of slander and was arbitrarily detained from 2005 to 2009 for alleged involvement in the murder of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.

A public hearing is scheduled for Tuesday. Sayyed and the prosecutor will each have 20 minutes to present their arguments to the court, said Fransen in a ruling dated June 25.
