Lebanese Democratic Party leader MP Talal Arslan said on Saturday that the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) is being used to settle political issues that Lebanon has nothing to do with, the National News Agency (NNA) reported.
“There are Arab and Western countries involved in this conspiracy against Lebanon,” he added.
This comes after Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said during a speech on Friday that an indictment by the STL is an Israeli project designed to target Hezbollah by stirring up sectarian strife in Lebanon.
Arslan also commented on the crackdown on the Israeli espionage network, saying that the Lebanese should protect both the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) and the Resistance because they maintain the country’s stability.
This comes after the arrest of three Alfa telecom employees since June on suspicions of having spied for Israel.
