Lebanese Democratic Party leader MP Talal Arslan on Sunday warned the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) not to get politicized, the National News Agency (NNA) reported.
Arslan said he rejects any possible aims by the tribunal to make accusations against some Lebanese parties in its upcoming indictment, which he said could escalate tensions in the country.
The STL is probing the 2005 assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri. Media reports say the tribunal’s indictment will be issued before the end of 2010. There are also reports that some Hezbollah members are named in the indictment
Arslan’s statement on Sunday followed his meeting with French MP Jean-Marie Le Guen in Khaldeh.
Le Guen said, in turn, that he noticed the Lebanese are facing many difficulties right now that they need to work to overcome through consensus.
