July 20, 2010 - Now Lebanon - Sayegh: Hajj Hassan’s explanation of Nasrallah’s speech brings new dimensions to understanding Hezbollah

Social Affairs Minister Selim Sayegh issued a statement on Tuesday that Agriculture Minister Hussein Hajj Hassan’s explanation of Hezbollah General Secretary Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah’s Friday speech brings new dimensions to the political reading of Hezbollah’s stances.

This response came following Sayegh’s comment on Saturday that most of the spies recently uncovered in a widening probe into Lebanon’s telecom sector are Shia. Three employees of the Alfa telecom company have been arrested since June on suspicions of having spied for Israel.

Hajj Hassan responded on Monday by stating that Sayegh has failed to understand Nasrallah’s speech, adding that the latter was speaking about a general environment that endorses espionage, and not a specific religion.

Nasrallah said on Friday that the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) is an Israeli project aiming to incite sectarian strife in Lebanon.
