NowLebanon - Moqdad clan release abducted Syrian national, August 18 2012

LBC television channel reported on Monday that the Moqdad clan in Beirut released Syrian national Mohammad Adel al-Suleiman Mohammad after he had been abducted by the family’s “military wing” on Friday.
The report added that the family’s spokesperson, Maher al-Moqdad, said that the hostage was freed as a sign of goodwill “on the occasion of the Eid al-Fitr holiday” – the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
Last week, members of the Moqdad Lebanese family said that its “military wing” abducted “more than 20 Free Syrian Army members” and a Turkish national.

The kidnapping followed the abduction of Hassan al-Moqdad in Syria. Moqdad’s kidnappers identified the abductee as a Hezbollah member, a statement denied by the Shiite party.
Following his release, Mohammad called on the Lebanese government “to intervene in order to resolve this issue if it wishes to preserve stability [in the country].”
He also called on the abductors of Hassan al-Moqdad to heed “the demands of his distraught father.”
