July 22, 2010 - Now Lebanon - Nasrallah should not fear STL if he is innocent, Makari says

Deputy Speaker Farid Makari told Al-Ousbou Al-Arabi magazine in an interview published on Thursday that Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah should not fear the Special Tribunal for Lebanon’s (STL) indictment if he is innocent.

Nasrallah on Friday accused the STL of serving Israel’s interest and inciting sectarian strife as media outlets reported that Hezbollah members will be named in the tribunal’s indictment for the 2005 assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.

Makkari also accused Change and Reform bloc leader MP Michel Aoun of provoking his allies against the Christian parties. This comes after As-Safir newspaper reported last week that the FPM leader told Nasrallah that there are military groups, especially among the Christians—a possible reference to the Kataeb Party and Lebanese Forces—that want to change the status quo in Christian areas.
