Now Lebanon - March 14 prepares to address Hariri critics - September 14, 2010

An-Nahar newspaper reported on Tuesday that the March 14 General Secretariat will voice a “strong and firm” position on Wednesday in response to statements criticizing Prime Minister Saad Hariri and March 14.

Former head of Lebanon’s General Security Jamil as-Sayyed said during a press conference on Sunday that “[Hariri] should take a lie detector test to prove he did not support or fund false witnesses in the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL).”

Sayyed added that the prime minister should “admit that he sold his father’s blood for four years in order to implement a new Middle East project,” a reference to US policy in the region.

Sayyed was detained from 2005 to 2009 on suspicion of involvement in ex-Premier Rafik Hariri’s 2005 murder. In April 2009, the STL ordered his release without charges due to lack of evidence.
