Ya Libnan - Ban calls on Lebanon leaders not to interfere with STL - September 14, 2010

U.N. chief Ban Ki-moon called on political leaders in Lebanon not to interfere in the work of the International Tribunal.

During a press conference in New York, Ban stressed that the STL has made progress, pointing out that the Tribunal is independent.

The STL, Ban said, “should not be associated with any political statements,” adding that the Tribunal was “not in danger.”

Ban refused to discuss the status of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon after Prime Minister Saad Hariri acknowledged the presence of false witnesses.
