Now Lebanon - Fares wants STL terminated - September 14, 2010

Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP) MP Marwan Fares told Future News on Tuesday that the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) must be put to an end, adding that the Lebanese judiciary should probe the 2005 assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.

“[The STL] is a burden to Lebanon,” Fares said.

He also said that Prime Minister Saad Hariri’s statement to As-Sharq al-Awsat newspaper last week that accusing Syria of the Rafik Hariri murder was political in nature is a “significant political transformation.”
