MTV reported on Thursday that Lebanese citizen Fatima Alu tried to set herself on fire in front of the Justice Palace in Beirut during the protest of the families of Roumieh Prison inmates.
Alu spilled fuel on herself, but a member of the security forces prevented her from setting herself on fire, MTV reported.
She then tried to enter the Justice Ministry, but could not, the report said, adding that she then fainted and was transferred to Rafik Hariri’s University Hospital.
Families of Roumieh Prison inmates protested in front of the Justice Palace in Beirut demanding to know their relatives’ medical conditions after reports that a large amount of inmates were injured.
Security forces stormed Roumieh Prison on Tuesday after talks failed to secure the release of three guards detained by inmates who had been demanding amnesty and better conditions in the prison.
