August 10, 2010 - Naharnet - Jumblat: Resolution 1559 Led to Hariri's Murder

Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Jumblat urged the March 14 general-secretariat to avoid taking the country to an internal strife after Hizbullah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah presented evidence of Israel's alleged involvement in ex-Premier Rafik Hariri's assassination. "We all want to know the truth but not in a way that would change its course and take the country to strife," Jumblat told Hizbullah's al-Manar TV. "We have to remember that what led to this disaster was (Security Council) resolution 1559. In order for it to be implemented, it was imperative to kill Hariri," Jumblat said. He said Nasrallah's evidence "opened the door wide on how the assassination took place."
