August 2, 2010 - Naharnet - Moussawi Says STL Indictment 'an Attempt to Eradicate the Resistance'

Loyalty to Resistance bloc MP Nawwaf al-Moussawi said Sunday that "the anticipated indictment to be issued by the Special Tribunal for Lebanon is one of the manifestations of the attempt to eradicate the Resistance in Lebanon, in line with the heated endeavor to impose a settlement that would destroy the Palestinian people's dream of returning to its land and establishing a viable independent state."
At a Hizbullah ceremony marking the anniversaries of the birth of Imam Mahdi and the July 2006 Victory in the southern town of Blida, Moussawi lauded any visit "by any Arab brother to Lebanon."

However, Hizbullah's MP added that what matters is "the outcome of the initiatives that are seeking to protect Lebanon against the threats of an unfair indictment."

Moussawi reminisced "the previous years when the STL was used to target Syria," warning against "the dangerous tunnel some are dragging themselves into, in the first place, before dragging Lebanon and its inhabitants."

"Until the results (of the Arab initiatives) become a reality, the Resistance has the right to defend itself, with anything it sees fit, against any unjust campaign that targets its reputation and the reputation of its Mujahedeen or martyrs, and no one can prevent it from defending Lebanon – because the targeting of the Resistance is a targeting of Lebanon," he stated.
