August 8, 2010 - Now Lebanon - Iranian official says Israel benefited from Hariri assassination

Following his meeting with Foreign Minister Ali Shami in Iran, Secretary of the Iranian Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Saeed Jalili said that Israel benefited from the 2005 assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, the National News Agency (NNA) reported on Sunday.

Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said last Tuesday that he will reveal during a press conference on August 9 irrefutable evidence proving that Israel was behind the assassination.

Jalili expressed his desire for regional cooperation between Iran and Lebanon.

Shami, in turn, said that Lebanon is always prepared to face any Israeli attack, calling for action to be taken against Tel Aviv’s threats.
