August 10, 2010 - Now Lebanon - De Freige: Nobody dismissed possibility of Israel’s involvement in Rafik Hariri’s assassination

Lebanon First bloc MP Nabil De Freige told Future News television on Tuesday that no one dismissed the hypothesis that Israel may be involved in the 2005 assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.

Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah presented on Monday alleged evidence—including footage he said came from Israeli Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) monitoring former PM Rafik Hariri and a confession from a suspected Israeli spy—in an aim to implicate Tel Aviv in the Hariri assassination.

“Rejecting the Special Tribunal for Lebanon’s (STL) investigation before it issues its indictment is [unacceptable],” De Freige said, adding that positions should be declared after the investigation’s results are released.

Nasrallah did not provide evidence, but analyses based on his own logic, he added. “The footage Nasrallah displayed was not convincing,” the MP also said.

De Freige added that all political and religious figures are monitored by Israel, referring to Nasrallah’s claim that Israel’s alleged monitoring of Rafik Hariri indicates they were planning an operation against him.
