August 2, 2010 - Now Lebanon - Moqdad warns Lebanese to stay vigilant against STL

Loyalty to the Resistance bloc MP Ali Moqdad called on all the Lebanese factions to stay vigilant against the Special Tribunal for Lebanon’s (STL) scheme – possibly referring to the STL’s pending indictment – calling the tribunal an Israeli project, according to a statement issued by Hezbollah’s press office.

Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah last month said that the STL would indict Hezbollah members for the 2005 assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.

The Resistance will continue to defend the country as it has been since 1982, Moqdad also said.

He also said that Hezbollah is not defending itself ahead of a tribunal indictment out of fear, but to impede the conspiracy against the Resistance and Lebanon.

Moqdad rejected that the Resistance will take the Lebanese army’s role, voicing the importance of unity between Hezbollah, and Lebanon’s army and people.
