August 3, 2010 - Now Lebanon - Nasrallah has irrefutable evidence Israel killed Hariri

Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said on Tuesday that he will reveal during his August 9 press conference irrefutable evidence proving that Israel was behind the 2005 assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.

During a speech marking the fourth anniversary of the 2006 July War, he said that the Jewish State had a plan to frame Hezbollah in the killing of Hariri.

Following next week’s conference, Nasrallah said the Lebanese government “should appoint a responsible [authority on the issue] if it finds what I say to be noteworthy.”

“We are ready to collaborate with the government.”

He addressed Tuesday’s clashes between the Israeli and Lebanese troops, saying Resistance fighters in South Lebanon were instructed to remain calm and not interfere in the clashes.

However, he said that the Resistance placed itself at the disposal of the LAF in case it needed assistance.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) and Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) exchanged fire along the northernmost section of their common border on Tuesday, with each side accusing the other of having started the fighting.

Two Lebanese soldiers, a journalist and a senior Israeli officer were killed in the clashes, according to sources from both sides.

The Hezbollah chief commended the Lebanese army soldiers, calling them courageous.

He said that if Hezbollah were to intervene in Tuesday’s clashes, some will try and accuse the party of taking the opportunity to obstruct the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL).

He said, however, that the Resistance will “cut off the hands of Israel” if it were to attack the Lebanese army.

“The LAF protects the Resistance, just as the Resistance protects the LAF, and the Lebanese people protect the LAF and the Resistance. This is the formula.”

He commented on the recent arrests of suspected Israeli collaborators working in Lebanon’s telecommunications sector, saying that the Jewish State’s infiltration of the country “is a great risk.”

“Uncovering such spies weakens Israel,” he said, adding, “The Resistance was, will and remains ready to assist the security forces, especially in the telecom field.”

Nasrallah said that his party demands the quick implementation of the death sentence against Israeli collaborators.

Also, the Hezbollah chief praised Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdel Aziz, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and Qatar Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani’s visit to Lebanon last week.

He said that the Baabda summit, during which President Michel Sleiman met with King Abdullah and Assad, was meant to protect Lebanon.
