Now Lebanon - Karam’s arrest shocked the FPM and stunned Hezbollah

An unnamed Free Patriotic Movement source told As-Sharq al-Awsat newspaper in an article published on Tuesday that the arrest of retired Brigadier General Fayez Karam—who is also an FPM official—shocked his party and stunned Hezbollah.

Karam was arrested last Tuesday on suspicion of collaborating with Israel.

The source stated that the FPM’s party structure will not be harmed by Karam’s absence, adding that his arrest will not influence FPM-Hezbollah relations because they are restricted to the leadership level.

FPM supporters were shocked by the reaction of the media to the retired general’s arrest, particularly that of Al-Manar television, the source said.

His comment comes as a reference to the media outlets reporting details on Karam’s alleged spy activities.
