The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization in Beirut that was established by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily) in 2006. SOLIDA has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human violations.

Iloubnan - Kabbani calls to manage the Energy Ministry, September 20, 2011

Head of the Parliamentary Commission for Public Works, Energy and Water, and Transportation, MP Mohammed Kabbani, called on Tuesday for ceasing to protect corruption in Lebanon denouncing in that respect to manage the Energy Ministry as if it was a private property. During a press conference, Kabbani assured that the public works, transportation, energy and water sectors are committed to respecting the Constitution and its content, as well as the Parliament's prerogatives and laws' application. "By all democratic means available we will be fighting corruption, even if corrupt people were close to us," he exclaimed.Kabbani said that "commissions' session was adjourned on Monday because several members had requested the written document that includes lines added to the electricity plan." He also deplored "the expenditure of a billion dollars for this project without control," calling on Parliament to form a commission to investigate in this matter "for combating corruption ought not to be done by theoretical discourses."
