The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization in Beirut that was established by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily) in 2006. SOLIDA has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human violations.

Iloubnan - Armed inmates attack Roumyeh jail, Black Panthers restore control, September 23, 2011


A number of inmates armed with sharp instruments in Roumyeh jail attacked anti terrorist squad members who made a surprise inspection of prison cells, the National News Agency reported.The attacks resulted the injury of 4 ISF members and 4 Fath Islam detainees who were rushed to the hospital for treatment amid tight security protection, the report said. A unit of the black Panthers rushed to the prison and restored calm and control at 9:00 am following the mutiny prisoners and the brief detention of security officers. The prisoners and the detainees were taken back to their cells, the report added.
