The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization in Beirut that was established by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily) in 2006. SOLIDA has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human violations.

The Daily Star - Sleiman affirms importance of modern electoral law - June 29, 2011

BEIRUT: President Michel Sleiman affirmed Tuesday the importance of adopting a modern electoral law based on proportionality so that representation can be diverse, balanced and harmonious with the spirit of the Constitution.
Speaking to visitors, Sleiman welcomed the delegation and affirmed the importance of adopting a modern electoral law based on proportionality for a more diverse and balanced representation.
Sleiman met with Finance Minister Mohammad Safadi and Justice Minister Shakib Qortbawi and discussed the progress of the ministerial committee tasked with drafting the Cabinet’s new policy statement as well as each of their ministries’ action plans.
