Now Lebanon - “Deal being prepared” concerning the STL, says Khoury - June 28, 2011

Environment Minister Nazem Khoury said on Tuesday that “a deal is being prepared” regarding the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) and its inclusion in the ministerial statement, “but it has not yet been discussed in the ministerial committee.”
“This does not imply [abandoning] the STL which is present and persistent,” he told Voice of Lebanon (100.5) radio.
“The STL’s indictment should not cause problems. It is only an indictment and not a final judgment,” Khoury added.
Khoury also said that the STL file is the only file which was not yet been tackled by the ministerial committee, adding that the ministerial statement might be finalized before next Thursday.
The new Lebanese cabinet—headed by Prime Minister Najib Mikati—was formed on June 12 after almost five months of deliberations between the March 8 parties.
Before bringing down Saad Hariri’s cabinet in January, Hezbollah had been pressing him to disavow the STL, which is probing the 2005 assassination of former PM Rafik Hariri and likely to implicate members of the Shia group.
